Built properly
The difference between a good sleeper wall and one that bows after a couple of winters is in the build. We set sleepers on a firm base, fix them securely with posts and fixings suited to the height, and allow for drainage behind the wall so water pressure does not build up.
Oak sleepers
Naturally durable and attractive, with a premium look that weathers well.
Treated softwood
A good value choice that is pressure treated to resist rot.
Reclaimed sleepers
Characterful, with a weathered look. Availability varies, so ask us.
Taller retaining walls carry real loads. For higher or more complex walls, we talk through the structure with you before building, and engineer advice may be needed.
